What to Do When iPhone Has Bad ESN or Blacklisted IMEI?

You have purchased an iPhone but it’s not getting any signals and you are pretty sure that it’s not a hardware fault, and then there may be this kind of problem: iPhone has bad ESN or blacklisted IMEI. The problem of not getting any signals can also happen a few days after the purchase of the device.

Part 1: What is Bad ESN?

Part 2: What to Do if you have Bad ESN iPhone?

Part 3: What is iPhone IMEI Blacklist?

Part 4: What to Do if Your iPhone Has a Blacklisted IMEI?

Part 5: One-Click Fix to Solve iPhone has Bad ESN or Blacklisted IMEI Issue

Part 6: Some Warnings About iPhone Having Bad ESN or Blacklisted IMEI
What is Bad ESN?

ESN is a unique number for your iPhone that identifies your device. A bad ESN iPhone prevents a device from connecting to the network because of some specific reasons. Those reasons may include not fulfilling the terms and conditions of a network carrier, cancelling the account before making any pending payments, violating any rules of a carrier network, previous owner of the device has reported the iPhone as lost or stolen, etc.

What to Do if you have Bad ESN iPhone?

Following are some of the things you can do if you have bad ESN iPhone:
1. Ask the Seller for a Refund

If you have purchased your iPhone from eBay, Craigslist, or any other online store, then contact the seller and ask for a refund. Most reputed online stores have refund policies, so chances are high that you will get the refund.
2. Get the ESN Cleaned

Many carriers offer services to clean bad ESN iPhone. You can ask your network carrier for help. Alternatively, there are other companies that offer ESN cleaning services as well. You can take advantage of those. Both options will cost you of course.
What is iPhone IMEI Blacklist?

iPhone IMEI blacklist is similar to a bad ESN as the device cannot get access to signals and is forbidden to do so because either the owner of the device didn’t activate it on any carrier or violated the contract/terms of service of a carrier, etc.

What to Do if Your iPhone Has a Blacklisted IMEI?

The solutions to this are similar to the ones described for bad ESN.

You can ask the seller for a refund if the problem occurred shortly after purchasing the iPhone.

Furthermore, you can contact your network carrier and make a request to have your IMEI number cleaned.

And if none of these solutions work, then you can take advantage of online IMEI cleaning services. They will charge you for the service of course, but once the blacklisted IMEI is cleaned, you will be able to use your device without any problems.Sponsor ads:7 Best Twitch Streaming Software (Free and Paid) for You 2019

Potential Solutions to Fix iPhone Keeps Asking for Apple ID 2019

Potential Solutions to Fix iPhone Keeps Asking for Apple ID 2019
1. Check iCloud/iMessage/FaceTime

Begin by checking that your iCloud account is configured correctly. If it is, turn off iCloud by deleting your account and then turn it back on.

You can also go to Settings > iCloud and then tap on the Account field. Here, erase and retype the password for the Apple ID. Click “Done” and see if this fixes the problem.

If you are still having the same problem, check both FaceTime and iMessages in settings. These services both use the Apple ID. Try turning both of them off and then on again. Also, retype the password for both FaceTime and iMessages.

2. Sign Out of and then Sign in to iCloud

You can also try signing out of iCloud and then signing back in. Here’s how to do that.

For iOS 10.3 or later:

Step 1: Go to Settings > Your Profile Name > iCloud,

Step 2: Scroll down and then tap “Sign Out”.

Step 3: Enter your password and then choose Turn off.

Step 4: Now go to Settings and tap on Sign in to your iPhone. Enter your Apple ID and password and then tap “Sign in” at the top right. Enter your iPhone’s passcode.

For iOS 10.2 or earlier:

Step 1: Go to Settings > iCloud and then scroll to the bottom to tap “Sign Out”.

Step 2: Go to Settings > iCloud > Sign in and then enter your iPhone passcode.

3. Reset Apple ID

Resetting your Apple ID could also provide a permanent solution to this problem. Here’s how you can reset or change your Apple ID.

Step 1: To change the email address that is associated with your Apple device (Apple ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and select “Manage your Apple ID.” Sign in.

Step 2: Click on “Add New Email Address”, enter the email address and click “Save Changes.”

Step 3: A verification email will be sent to that email address. Verify the address and you’re done.

Now use your nee Apple ID and see if this eliminates the problem.

4. Slide to Turn the Device Off

This problem can also occur when there is a faulty Wi-Fi connection. The easiest way to fix it is to power off the iPhone and the power it back on again. It is a simple solution that works for just about any problem including this one. Follow these simple steps to do it.

Step 1: Hold down the Power button for a few seconds until you see the “Slide to power off” prompt appears on the iPhone’s screen.

Step 2: Slide the power icon to the right to turn off the device. Wait for the screen to go completely black.

Step 3: Press the power button to turn on the device and check if the problem still persists.

5. Restore iPhone Without Data Loss

Since this problem is mostly prominent when a restore is interrupted, you can bypass the whole problem by restoring your device using an alternative to iCloud and iTunes that guarantees no data loss. Restoring your device via iTunes or iCloud might be effective but all the data on your device will be erased during the process. You are also unable to select the data to restore when using iTunes or iCloud.

But there is an alternative that allows you to restore the device quickly and easily, without data loss. This is iMyFone D-Port Pro, a backup and restore tool that is designed to make these processes easier and faster. Some of D-Port Pro’s features include the following;

With D-Port, you can choose to restore only a section of the data. It allows you to restore only Messages, WhatsApp or WeChat data as opposed to all the data.

Backing up and restoring the data can be done in a single click and doesn’t take too long to complete.

You can restore a partial backup without overwriting the other data.

Two Ways to Check WhatsApp Storage Usage on iPhone

Two Ways to Check WhatsApp Storage Usage on iPhone

There are two main ways to keep an eye on your WhatsApp storage:
1. Via Settings

You can go into your settings on your iPhone and view how much storage individual apps are taking up.

On Versions before iOS 11: Just go to Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage, then go to Manage Storage under the Storage section.

On iOS 11 and later: Just go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage.

In there, you will see your apps listed in order of how much storage they use.
2. Inside WhatsApp

You can also check the amount of storage you’re using through the WhatsApp app itself. In WhatsApp, swipe down to go into the settings. Then go to Settings > Data and Storage Usage > Storage Usage, and you will see a detailed list of which conversations are taking up the most space.

Manually Reduce WhatsApp Storage on Your iPhone

You can do this in a few direct ways:
A. Uninstall and Reinstall the App

Usually, since this will erase all of your data associated with the app, you will be starting off fresh. This will greatly reduce the storage space it takes up on your iPhone. You can uninstall the app by going into your Settings.
B. Delete WhatsApp Chats

You can also just delete your WhatsApp chats selectively. Do this by going to WhatsApp > Settings > Chats, then tap Clear All Chats or Delete All Chats.

C. Delete WhatsApp Attachments

In general, what’s taking up all the room are the attachments, more than the conversations themselves. If you want to delete large attachments, you can simply go into the WhatsApp application and tap on any conversation. Find the attachment you want to delete from the conversation and tap on the left side of the attachment. Now you can select the media you want to delete and then tap the trash can to get rid of them.

You can also tap Contact on the main WhatsApp screen, choose one of your contacts, and tap Media, Link & Docs to see all of the media associated with that contact. You can look through the content and delete what you want from there.

How to Permanently Delete WhatsApp Chats on iPhone

If you’re worried about your privacy and you don’t want people to be able to access your conversations after deleting them, manually deleting in the ways that we mentioned above won’t be enough. Using recovery software, it’s possible for people to snoop on your conversations.
